Our team of Nurse Specialists is available to provide information and advice on PSP and CBD to patients and carers, and to help local health and social care service providers better understand the care needs of people with PSP or CBD.
The nurses support people with PSP and CBD, carers and professionals via a telephone service (with answerphone if unavailable), attend local support group meetings and take part in teaching sessions to health and social care professionals. They:
- Take more than 2,500 calls through the telephone service each year.
- Advise families and health professionals at Local Support Groups in more than 20 venues around the country.
- Advise healthcare professionals on ways to support people with PSP or CBD, such as problems with walking, talking, eating, drinking and seeing.
- Take part in study days and teaching sessions for a broad range of health and social care professionals on the needs of people with PSP and CBD.
- Participate in PSP or movement disorder clinics in London, Bristol, Newport, Manchester and Newcastle.
