PSP and CBD loved ones remembered

A special Service of 'Thanksgiving and Dedication' on behalf of The PSP Association took place at St. Lawrence Church, Towcester, Northamptonshire, on Friday 31st July.

Despite the appalling weather earlier in the week, the day proved fortunately to be mild and dry. Thanks were given for the work of the Association over its first 15 years, marked by the charity celebrating its Crystal Anniversary on April 29th 2009.

During the service, conducted by the Reverend Lulu Pelly, Readings were given, Prayers for Support and Care were offered, and music performed by John Smith the Organist and the acclaimed Sopranos Jean Rigby (who regularly sings at Glyndebourne) and Rachael Curtis (who sings for the BBC Symphony Orchestra). Families were able to remember loved ones by lighting a candle in their memory.

After the service a short reception for families and members of The PSP Association was held in a local Hall in Towcester.

PSP and CBD Tribute BoardA 2 metre square board featuring photographs of loved ones together with tributes posted by family members was on display in the Church for the Service.

The PSP Association's ‘In Memoriam' book bearing the names of all subscribers to the Association (except those whose family have expressly declined to have their loved ones names included), since its inception, and who have in the interim sadly died from either PSP or CBD was formally introduced and blessed during the service. The 'In Memoriam' Book was then brought from the church and placed in a special display case at The PSP Association's offices.

The Tribute Wall, in the Reception area of The PSP Association's offices, forms a permanent memorial bearing plaques of those who have died from either PSP or CBD and whose families have kindly donated £5,000 or more to the work of the Association.

PSP Bench dedicated to Mary Elisabeth ScandrettA bench dedicated to Mary Elizabeth Scandrett has been placed in the small garden area of The PSP Association offices.

The PSP Association wishes to thank all those who attended. Find out more about setting up a PSP Association Magnolia Tribute Fund in memory of a loved one.
