Fundraise

Supporters of The PSP Association across the UK help us to raise vital funds enabling us to provide information, advice and support to PSP sufferers and their families, and to take on additional, vital research into the cause, effective treatment and cure of PSP. The PSP Association needs your help, whether it’s by organising your own event or collection on a one–off or a long term basis. If you wish, you can set up a special Magnolia Tribute Fund where friends and family can make donations to The PSP Association in memory of a loved one.

PSP Magnolia Tribute Funds

What is a Tribute Fund?

A Tribute Fund is a special fund set up by friends and family in the name of a loved one. It acts as an individual and lasting memorial as well as providing a focus for raising funds for The PSP Association. When a fund has been established, anyone can contribute to it in whatever way they wish.

How can I set up a Fund?

Setting up a fund is very easy. Simply print off and complete the form available on this website, return it to us and we will set up a fund for you on our database, ready to receive donations.  If you have difficulties printing off this form, you can request a hard copy either by telephoning 01327 322417 or by e-mailing Marilyn Osborne.

Click here for an Application Form.

Once we have registered your Fund we will send you an Information Pack with further details on ways to manage your Fund, including how to set up an online donation page through JustGiving.com.

If you agree, we can mention your Tribute Fund on our website and, if you have set up an online page, a link will be created from our website to your page.

Can other people contribute to the Fund?

People can contribute to the Fund by making a straight donation by cheque, postal order or over the phone direct to The PSP Association or by setting up a regular Standing Order. At the time of making the donation, the donor needs to make it clear (either over the phone or in writing) that the money is for a particular Tribute Fund.

Special donations to the Fund can be made to mark events such as birthdays and anniversaries. Some friends and family may wish to do their own fundraising, for example, by organising a special event or taking part in a sponsored activity like a marathon, fun run or more daring challenge events.

How will the money raised by the Fund help The PSP Association?

However the monies are raised, they will accumulate within the Fund to enable The PSP Association to continue its work funding research into PSP, supporting patients and carers and helping to raise awareness of this devastating disease. Alternatively, if you would prefer money raised by your Fund to go into any one particular area, such as Research or Support, please let us know when you set up the Fund.

Keeping track of the money raised

We will send you regular bulletins as to the progress being made by your individual Fund.

Events Fundraising

Event fundraising can be a fun and very rewarding experience. Many individuals who have supported us have enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment that organising an event or taking part in a personal challenge brings, whether it's a fundraising coffee morning or a skydive! We can provide fundraising support, including leaflets, posters, information packs and sponsor forms to help you.

You could choose to take part in a pre-organised event such as the Great North Run and collect sponsorship, or you could take up on of our ‘guaranteed places’ in an event such as the London Marathon or British 10K London Run.

For more details on these and other events, visit the Events section of this website.

Community Fundraising

The support of local community service groups is invaluable to The PSP Association. There are a wide variety of groups across the UK, including Round Table and Rotary Clubs, Inner Wheel and Ladies Circle, Lions, Golf Clubs and churches. Raising money for charity can help promote your organisation, increase membership and motivate your members.

Here are some examples of ways in which you can help:

Community Groups

  • Make a donation towards our work across the UK or in your local area – for example, towards funding a Local Support Group meeting.
  • Organise your own event in aid of The PSP Association - for example, a sponsored walk or charity auction.

In May 2003, Pat and Sally Hanson organised a sponsored walk for The PSP Association in Bala in North Wales. Pat’s husband Ted Hanson was suffering from PSP and the idea came after Pat and daughter Sally attended their local PSP Support Group Meeting where issues of funding and publicity were discussed. Sally mentioned it to her daughter Rowena who, along with a group of school friends, suggested the sponsored walk. Sally quickly took up the idea, contacting the local media who responded with numerous press articles and radio interviews about PSP.

Sally said, “The response to the publicity was overwhelming. By the time the sponsor forms were printed, money was already coming in. We had reached our original target before anyone has even taken a step.” They raised a fantastic £2,000. Sally commented, “The money is important, obviously, but raising public consciousness is just as vital in the long term.”

Golf Clubs

  • Nominate The PSP Association as your golf captain’s Charity of the Year.
  • Hold a charity golf day in aid of The PSP Association.
  • Host a dinner dance and have a raffle or auction.

Churches

  • Hold a coffee morning, plant sale or bring and buy sale.
  • Organise a concert with the proceeds going to The PSP Association.
