Donor Trusts

PSP Association Major Fundraising Appeals Committee
Grants made to The PSP Association from Trusts and Foundations have had a very significant impact on our work and have enabled the Association to move forward and grow rapidly in line with the increasing numbers of those diagnosed with PSP. We constantly work to secure further support for all areas of our work.
The PSP Association is the only UK charity supporting people with PSP and the people who live with them as family members, carers or friends. It also provides support across Europe, both in assisting the setting up of similar organisations to itself in those countries with the capacity to do so, and directly for PSP patients, their carers and families in those counties with no central organisation.
The Association also sponsors research worldwide into the cause, effective treatment and eventual cure of PSP. Leading neurologists believe that up to 10,000 people across the UK alone could be suffering from PSP.
We currently receive support on both national and local levels and the majority of the funds donated are allocated to specific areas of our work. For example, following an application made to them, we recently received a grant of £13,000 to help fund a new PSP Nurse Specialist from the Freemasons' Grand Charity.
In 2004 the prestigious October Club, a Committee made up of representatives of City Asset Management Corporates, selected The PSP Association as their charity of the year and raised a remarkable ‘one-off’ amount of over £400,000. Half of this is earmarked for cutting edge research into PSP, and half for our planned restructuring move as we grow as an organisation.
Also in 2004, during our 10th Anniversary year, we set up a Major Fundraising Appeals Committee (MFAC) under the chairmanship of Lord (Seb) Coe. Through its members the MFAC identifies possible donors and their areas of interest. To date, the MFAC has helped us raise sufficient funds to meet our growth targets.
Over recent years, we have appreciated the difference Donor Trust support for The PSP Association can make. As well as funding shorter term projects, long-term support, including funding spread over several years, is also crucial – working together in partnership to make a difference now and to be able to plan to meet needs in the future.
We are keen to develop our relationships with Donor Trusts further - building upon existing, and instigating new, partnerships. If you are a Trustee or have links with a Trust or Foundation, you can make a difference.
If you think you or your organisation could support The PSP Association please email The PSP Association or telephone 01327 322410.
